A Commission for Bestselling Authors Tony and Angela DiTerlizzi
It was an absolute honor to create this special commission for bestselling authors Tony DiTerlizzi and Angela DiTerlizzi in celebration of their 20th anniversary! I harnessed my imagination to illustrate Tony’s signature phrase, and dreamt up a billowing glass cloud to ensconce the lettering. I worked with a glass shop in NYC to create the custom-cut glass, and I designed, hand-painted, and gilded the lettering with three types of authentic gold leaf. In honor of Angela’s children’s book Just Add Glitter, I embellished the piece with sparkly pearl mica flakes and dusted the edges with a generous sprinkle of glitter. I designed the cloud to float off of the wall with gold stand-off hardware. The finished piece is installed at the entrance of the DiTerlizzi’s home.
